STAY TUNED

Thank you everyone for your participation with the NFA thus far.  We have decided that before proceeding that we are going to slow down a bit and organize.  We will be back soon and will seek your advice again soon!  Check back here as well as CC to see the progress on our league.

From Humble Beginnings Part 2: Picking Cities

If this week is a sign of things to come then we will always be very evenly split.  With a slight victory the NFA will adopt an inaugural alignment of 24 teams, 2 conferences (east/west), 6 divisions (4 teams each) or also known as OPTION B.  For a quick reminder, here is what we have chosen:
Division A:               Division B:              Division C:
-Seattle, WA             -San Jose, CA            -Fargo, ND         -Little Rock, AR
-Anchorage, AK       -San Francisco, CA   -Sioux Falls, SD -New Orleans, LA
-Portland, OR           -Los Angeles, CA      -Omaha, NE       -San Antonio, TX
-Boise, ID                 -Las Vegas, NV         -Des Moines, IA -Houston, TX
-Salt Lake City, UT  -Phoenix, AZ             -Wichita, KN      -Dallas, TX
-Helena, MT             -Albuquerque, NM    -St. Louis, MO
-Cheyenne, WY        -Honolulu, HI            -Kansas City, MO
-Denver, CO             -San Diego, CA         -Oklahoma City, OK

Division D:               Division E:                                      Division F:
-Minneapolis, MN    -Louisville, KY  -Raleigh, NC        -Bangor, ME        -Pittsburgh, PA
-St. Paul, MN           -Charleston, WV -Columbia, SC     -Montpelier, VT   -Philadelphia, PA
-Milwaukee, WI       -Memphis, TN    -Miami, FL           -Manchester, NH -Wilmington, DE

-Indianapolis, IN      -Birmingham, AL                             -Buffalo, NY
-Cleveland, OH        -Atlanta, GA                                     -New York, NY
-Cincinnati, OH        -Richmond, VA                                -Long Island, NY
-Columbus, OH        -Charlotte, NC                                  -Trenton, NJ

Not all of the cities above will be included.  Our league will have 24 total teams with 4 cities for each division.  This week we will be voting for the cities of our first two divisions (Div. A and Div. F, 1 east, 1 west).    Out of all of the cities listed above you can vote IN THE COMMENTS BOX as many cities as you want.  Try to think to yourself, which cities you think should be included (vote for one or for all and everything in between).  The 4 cities by the end of the week with the most votes win.

KEEP IT ON THE RADAR
Next week we will be voting on Divisions B and E, the week after C and D.  So get your votes ready.

NOW IS NOT FOR NAMING! BUT IT THAT IS COMING!
IMPORTANT: I will not accept name nominations until the city selection polls are finalized — no matter how many votes any city is getting!

Like the IceHL, when you make a nomination, you must include the location with it.  "In other words, don't just submit Lightning.  Submit Tampa Bay Lightning".

We'll do the same name nominating process the week after for the next two divisions and so on. I'll accept nominations for a week and then have you guys vote on the final name. All nominations will be included in this process provided they fit within the guidelines I set up. More on those in the next paragraph.

THE RULES

A team name nomination will NOT be accepted if it breaks any of the following rules:
  • It may not use a name of any current or past NFL team.

  • It may not use the name of any current AFL or any team from the past.

  • It may not use the name or close variation of any professional sports team currently or previously within the same market or geographical area.

  • It may not use the name of any team in the Chris Creamer community etc.

  • It may not be vulgar or in any way inappropriate. (And I'll decide what's inappropriate.)

That should cut down on any potential similarity to the NFL or any other league. I'll have another list like this for when it comes time to choose colors and create logos. But again, this is not final. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.  PM on CC.

Here we go!

From Humble Beginnings Part 1: The Inaugural Alignment

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS PART 1: The Inaugural Alignment
Welcome NFA pioneers,

As you can see we have decided on a name.  It was an extremely close vote between all three nominees (Gridiron FL, National Football Association and The Sunday Champions League).  While a league logo and identity is in the works by a few designers (you are more than welcome to submit concepts) the blog will look a little bare.  It is now time to unveil the most popular alignment options thus far.  We have decided on 24 teams.  Most of you have highlighted the promise of future expansion projects as a major reason for starting our league at a smaller number.  Below are the options for our league's inaugural alignment.  Vote for the option that you prefer in the poll to the left. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
